Was zwischen Weihnachten und dem Neuen Jahr geschah

Erstmal wurde gepackt und ab gings an die Ostsee. Davon habe ich ja hier schon berichtet.

Aber ich habe ja versprochen den Fortschritt an meinem riesigen MiniSechseck Quilt zu teilen, da lief nämlich einiges!

What happened between christmas and the New Year

First we packed and drove north to the baltic sea, I covered that here.

There I promised to show you how my big tiny hexagon quilt is growing.

Jetzt habe ich schon fast das zweite Viertel zusammen genäht. Die Papier Teilchen, um die die Stoffsechsecke geheftet sind, sind alle draussen.

I’m almost done sewing all the eighth of the second part of four together. And all the paper pieces that were covered by fabric are gone.

Und hier noch ein Blick auf die letzten beiden Viertel, allerdings nicht mehr aktuell, Fotos dazu folgen.

And here’s a glimpse on the last two quarters, not recent though. Pictures from the actual progress will follow.

Worauf ich noch stolz bin: Bonnie Hunter, eine berühmte amerikanische Quilterin die jeden Tag bloggt und viele Bücher geschrieben hat und super tolle Tips gibt, hat meinen Quilt schon ein paar mal erwähnt, und erst letztens sogar meine ganze Email mit Fotos in ihrem blog veröffentlicht.

Another thing I am very proud of is that Bonnie Hunter, a welknown american Quilter who blogs every day and writes books and gives such wonderful tips, mentioned my quilt a few times and posted my whole email with pictures on her blog.

Da muss wohl mal ein update her…

Mein Meisterwerk wächst, ich bin ganz erstaunt wie sehr der Fortschritt jetzt sichtbar wird.

Das ist ja ungefähr ein Viertel der Höhe, komplett zusammengesetzt:

My masterpiece is growing and it is amazing to see the progress speeding ahead.

This is about a quarter of the height completed:

Weil ich jetzt die ganzen schon fertig zusammen genähten Fische ins Wasser setze, dauert das nähen meiner festgesetzten 60 Sechsecke pro Tag um einiges länger als noch beim Meeresgrund, da musste ich nur einzelne Teilchen aneinander fügen. Dafür sieht man den Erfolg aber auch schneller.

Because I’m putting the already finished fishes into the water now, I need more time to put my goal of 60 hexagons a day together. It went faster while I only sewed them together one by one as it happened with the seabed. But the progress in height is so much faster.

Im oberen Bild kann man sehen das der ganz linke Teil fehlt. Der ist hier schon fertig und ich bin dabei die Papierchen raus zu popeln.

In the picture above you can see that the first part on the left is missing. That’s because it is already in the stage of getting the papers out.

Hier sieht man so ein bisschen das ich in Teilen arbeite, ich stecke die Sechsecke und Fische auf Korkplatten, nehme diese mit in die Wohnung und füge dort die Stoffteilchen aneinander.

Auf jede Platte passen in der Höhe ungefähr drei Din A4 Blätter quer. In der Breite sind es acht Platten und insgesamt 11 Blätter der Länge nach. Hier die Platte die ich gerade in arbeit habe.

With these fotos you can see that I work in parts, I pin the hexies and fishes onto cork tiles and take them upstairs to sew the fabric pieces together.

I can fit three Din A4 sheets of paper crosswise in height on each tile. There are eight tiles lengthwise with 11 sheets of paper. This is the tile I am working on currently.

Auch schon wieder fast fertig…

Ein Samstag in Bildern

Es war einmal ein Samstag im Ländle, der fing so an:

(Also gut, die Fotos brauchen vielleicht ein paar Worte…. das ist das selbstgebaute Ersatzteil für die Rückbank unseres Busses, das Ausziehbett, der obere Teil unseres Stockbettes. Es hat etwas länger gebraucht, bis es wieder ausgetauscht wurde, nach dem Urlaub….)

(Alright, so the last pictures might need some explaining… this is the selfmade spare part that replaced the bench in our bus, the pull-out bed, the top part of our bunk bed. It took us a bit longer to replace it after the holidays…..)

Ich muss schon sagen, ich bin ziemlich stolz über all das, was wir so geschafft haben an dem Tag. Damals….

Niederlande 2017 die Zweite

Weiter gings Richtung Norden, auf die Insel Schouwen-Duiverland, wo wir auf meinen Bruder mit Familie trafen. Die Kinder durften auf dem Campingplatz bleiben während wir nach Zieriksee fuhren um die Stadt zu besichtigen.

Vorher durfte ich aber einen Abstecher zu einem super niedlichen Patchworkladen machen, meine Schwägerin strickt und häkelt zwar, aber sie ist so einem Zwischenstopp nie abgeneigt. Im Gegensatz zu meinem Bruder, fast schon allergisch, und meinem Mann, der manchmal auch mit rein kommt…. manchmal.

Im Laden habe ich keine Fotos gemacht, schade eigentlich, es war eine kleine ehemalige Scheune und es gab tolle Sachen. Hier meine Ausbeute.

Netherlands the second

We moved further north onto the Island Schouwen-Duiverland, where we met up with my brother and family. Whilst the kids were allowed to stay at the campground we went sightseeing to Zierikzee.

I was allowed a stop at a Patchworkshop, my sister in law is rather knitting and doing crochet, but she likes these shops as much as I do. In contrary to my brother, almost allergic, and my husband, who sometimes even goes inside too…. sometimes.

I didn’t take any fotos of the shop, which is quite sad, it was so cute in an old small barn and such beautiful things inside. So here is what I aquired there.

Und dann war da Zierikzee.

And then there was Zierikzee.

Als wir ankamen regnete es, aber insgesamt hielt das Wetter und wir blieben trocken. Zierikzee ist eine richtig schöne mittelalterliche Stadt mit kleinen Häuschen und viel Wasser und tollen Schiffen! Und kein gemaule, wann gehen wir endlich, ich habe Hunger, ich kann nicht mehr laufen….. *g*

It rained when we got there, but in the end the weather held and we stayed dry. It was such a lovely midieval town with small houses and lots of water and ships. And nobody who legged behind and wanted food and to get back to the campground. *g*

Am nächsten Tag liefen wir dann an den Strand und brauchten eine Stunde hin und eine zurück und wurden während dessen und zwischendrin gebraten, es war der einzige Tag mit purer Sonne.

We walked to the beach the next day and the sun beat down on us mercilessly the whole hour there and back and inbetween, too. It was the only day with pure sunshine.

Und dann hats geregnet.

Eigentlich war ich froh drüber, dadurch kam ich mit meinen Sechsecken weiter. Nicht so weit wie auf dem Foto, das ist gerade entstanden, aber sehr zufriedenstellend.

And then we had rain.

I was kind of glad about it, because I got a lot of work done on my hexies. Not as much as is seen on the foto, I just took that, but very satisfying.

Wir hatten alle viel Spaß im Schwimmbad am Campingplatz während wir dort waren.

We all had quite some fun at the indoor pool for quite some time during our stay there.

Und ich werde für die letzten Tage wohl noch einen post machen, es wäre sonst schade für all die tollen Sachen die wir noch gesehen haben.

I think I will make one more post for the last days, because I can’t do all the stuff we saw justice here.

Wieder zurück

Vom Urlaub. Der war kürzer als geplant weil das Wetter so unbeständig war.

Back again from our holidays.

Which was shorter than planned because of the unpredictable weather.

Und weil wir nur einen recht kurzen Weg nach Hause hatten.

Zwei Wochen waren wir in den Niederlanden, das neue Bett hat sich bewährt, aber der Platz drunter ist doch sehr beengt. *g g* oder haben wir einfach zu viel Zeug dabei?

And because we had such a short way home.

We were gone two weeks in the Netherlands. The new bed worked out quite well, but the space under it is quite small. *g g* Maybe we took too much stuff with us?

Jedenfalls hielten wir uns wegen des Wetters oft an den Campingplätzen auf, was mein Sechseckprojekt ein gutes Stück weiterbrachte.

Anyway, bcause of the weather we stayed at the campgrounds a lot and my hexie project grew quite a lot.

Da muss ich wohl noch ein paar Fotos nachreichen, hier sieht man gar keinen Unterschied. Der untere Teil ist inzwischen am Stück und bis auf die Randsechsecke ohne verstärkende Papierchen, die die Stoffstückchen beim zusammen nähen in Form gehalten haben. Das waren vielen Stunden Arbeit.

I have to take more fotos, there is hardly a difference to see. The lower part is already in one piece and rid of the papers which gave the fabric pieces their shape. That was a lot of work.

Ich werde in nächster Zeit auch noch mehr Fotos vom Urlaub posten.

Meisterwerk, Minihexies

So, jetzt bin ich doch tatsächlich mehr oder weniger auf dem laufenden. Nur das ich gleich mehrere Projekte gleichzeitig bearbeite…

An erster Stelle steht da mein Meisterwerk, 50000 winzige Sechsecke die so langsam zu einem ganzen werden.
I am actually more or less up to date. The thing is, I keep working on more than one project at a time…

First in the line is my Masterpiece, 50000 tiny hexagons that are slowly turning into one.

Laut meinen Aufschrieben habe ich inzwischen über die Hälfte zusammen genäht. Vieles davon sind einzelne Fische, Schildkröten, die Delfine… aber einzelne Sechsecke habe ich nur noch in blau und grün.

Hier der Meeresboden mit Riff, es fehlt noch etwas Sand:
My notes say I am halfway done. Lots of it are single fish, turtles, the dolphins… but there are only blue and green single hexies left.

Here the seabed with a riff, there’s still some sand missing:

 

Hier habe ich den Sand weiter aufgefüllt und ein paar Pflanzen dazwischen gepflanzt, sonst hätten mir die Sandteile nicht gerreicht.
I filled up the sand and put some plants in between, because i didn’t have enough sandparts.

Ein halbes Jahr später…..

Endlich mal eine Aktualisierung.

Ein Oktopuss wurde entworfen und zusammengesetzt.

After half a year, finally an update.

An Octopuss came to life.


Diverse Seepferdchen in gelb und orange.
Some seahorses in yellow and orange.

Und Schildkröten in verschiedenen Größen.
And seaturtles in different sizes.

Ich war leider nicht sehr fleißig, trotzdem habe ich die 10% Marke erreicht, über 5000 Sechsecke sind zusammengenäht. Langsam kann ich mich daran machen, den Meeresboden zu gestalten. Dazu fehlen mir noch ein paar tausend Nadeln, mal sehen, wie ich an die rankomme.
I was quite lazy, still, ten percent are reached, I joined more then 5000 hexies. I think I could get started on the seabed. I’m missing a few thousand needles for that, let’s see, how I can get them.
